I'm going to be a what?!?!

So January 4th (ish) 2012 was the day that changed my life!

That morning I decided I needed to take a pregnancy test. The week prior I had a minor surgery on my finger and was taking strong pain medicine. Because my "Aunt" hadn't visited yet I wanted to make sure it was safe to be taking the medicine.

Well...the 8 or 9th test came back positive, so what do I do?! I call my husbands friend and ask what to do next!!!  6 hours later I'm in the doctors office waiting to have my blood drawn and sure enough...CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Wow, did not expect that one! See about 6 weeks prior I came home from a 10 month deployment to Afghanistan, we did not expect to get pregnant that fast.

Well after I left the doctors office I headed into town to pick up the hubs friend. She was going to be staying the night with us and I had some planning to do. We stopped by the store to pick up a few things, went back to the house and got started.

12 hours after the positive pregnancy test my husband finally gets home from work. C and I were sitting on the couch waiting for him to go into the bathroom where we had placed a surprise.

The hubs went into the bathroom, shut the door then came back out to tell us something about work, then went back into the bathroom and did that again 3 or 4 times. Finally we told him that he stunk and he needed a shower. He went in, shut the door and we waited.

You see, shortly before he got home I took clean clothes and laid them in the bathroom folded neatly so he would have clothes when he got out of the shower. Among his close was the big announcement.

About 60 seconds after he went into the bathroom for the last time he came running thru the door and jumped OVER the back of the couch yelling "Are you serious?!?!?!".

9 months later on September 6, 2012 at about 11a.m. I had my beautiful baby boy!

Just A Little Bit About Me

Here are a few things about me! I hope you enjoy!

Where am I from? - I was born in southern California and moved to Arkansas at a young age. I’m pretty sure that I have never forgiven my parents for moving me away from my friends. As much as I hated growing up here I have always been thankful that I was able to grow up in a small town and be so close to many people.

What did I want to be when I grew up? – I wanted to be a lawyer or a teacher. Now I want to be a teacher or nurse. Every day I change my mind. I know I would have so much fun teaching but I also know that by becoming a registered nurse I’d be able to take care of my family if something happened to my husband.

Random things:
a.       I have been on a huge peacock kick. The peacock is an absolutely beautiful bird! My Christmas tree is covered in blue and green and even has some peacock feathers in it!
b.      Running, I was never a runner and just recently decided that I should start since I am in the military and all. I signed up for my marathon next March and hopefully I will be here to do it. (There’s a possibility I may be moving and if that’s the case I won’t be able to drive all the way home for it.)
c.       Pancakes! I absolutely LOVE pancakes! When I was in basic training I would motivate myself a little extra on days that I knew they would be serving pancakes in the DFAC! When we took our final PT test I remember telling myself the whole last half of the mile that WHEN I passed I could have all the pancakes I wanted. Guess what! I passed with 2 minutes to spare!

What kind of movies do I like? - I LOVE scary movies. I have a really bad habit of watching scary movies and television shows when I’m home alone. I tend to freak myself out. Sometimes I scare myself so much that I can’t sleep.

What is my biggest fear? - Growing up it was spiders. Can’t. Stand. Those. Things! But now that I am older I am afraid of being alone. Hate it! I am alone all the time since my husband works out of town. I always worry that he will be working out of town for ever and that I’ll always be alone.

What televisions shows do I watch? Well since little man runs the house we normally watch things like The Dinosaur Train, Jake and the Neverland Pirates and Mickey Mouse Club House. When it’s just me I watch Doctor Who, Scandal, The Good Wife, Greys Anatomy, and Face Off. I will TRY just about any show.

Favorite movie or television show?- I absolutely LOVE The Mummy and Twister. I can probably quote both movies without missing anything. They created two other mummy movies. The second one I will watch sometimes and the third one I have only seen once and refuse to watch again.

Can I play any instruments? – In high school I played the French horn and flute. I also learned to play the trumpet and keyboard.  I still have my flute and I donated my French horn to the school I graduated from. I love music but was really never a fan of band.

Do I have children? –Well yes, that’s why I started this blog! I have a 15 month old baby boy and two step-sons (four and six). My husband and I have talked about having two more kids. The only problem with that is if we have two more boys. FIVE boy’s total that would be crazy. I’m not really sure if I could deal with five boys. Plus my husband has a baby brother and sister and due to health problems his mother has we could end up having to take care of them too. So we are talking about the possibility of SIX boys and a girl. I think I may be getting sick just thinking about that!

Do I have a best friend? – Yes. It started out as forced love and grew into a wonderful friendship. My sister “J” is several years older than me and has always taken care of me. She doesn't know this but I have always looked up to her and consider her my best friend. She is always there when I need her, even if it’s for her to tell me that I am stupid and to grow up. Since she is about 15 years older than me she is more a mother figure than a sister but either way she is still my BFF. J

What is something I would change about myself? - Growing up there were tons of things I would change things like my teeth, hair, booty, and being lame. Now there really isn't much that I would want to change. The only thing would be going to college after high school. But even that really isn't much. I have grown to love myself. Now I do wish my booty was toned up and I wish my teeth were straight. But I am who I am and I will live.

What is my favorite time of the day? - Nap time! I love chasing my toddler around the house all day but I love nap time. The only time of day that I can sit down and breathe without worrying about getting hit with flying food or someone chasing sister around with a dowel rod!

What do I do in my spare time? - Spare time? I have no clue what spare time is so I can’t answer that one.

Do I do anything neat? - Yes! I LOVE DIY projects. I've made several diaper cakes and hair bows. Not a big fan of sewing but I have made a few blankets. I have seen so many things that I would love to do to my first house. Now all I need is a house and I can let my crafty side out!

How do you feel about deploying again now that you are a mom?- Well um..I hate the idea. I have no clue how people can do it. Becoming a parent changes so many things. I always thought that I would retire from the Army but now after having my son just the thought of having to leave him kills me. It's even worse because my husband has a job that keeps him away from home. Growing up without both parents isn't going to happen.

So there you go, some things about me!

1/2 cup powdered sugar
Food coloring optional

2. Melt 5 ounces of white almond bark on a low heat.
3. While chocolate is melting, put 1 cup cake mix and 1/2 powered sugar into a gallon sized ziplock bag.
